Barwell Motorsport is delighted to announce that the BMW Z4 GT3 it runs under the ‘Team Russia by Barwell’ banner will be entering the Blancpain Endurance Series (BES) in 2015, contesting the Pro-Am Class.

Last season the stunning grey, green and black Z4 made its debut in the European Le Mans Series, with drivers Leo Machitski, Timur Sardarov and Jonny Cocker claiming GTC Class points-scoring finishes in four out of the five 4-hour races. This year they have switched their attentions to the Blancpain Series where their driver gradings are ideal for the Pro-Am class, and the Championship has a car Balance of Performance which is slightly fairer to the BMW Z4.

The Team Russia By Barwell car will contest the full Blancpain Endurance Season, with Leo, Timur and Jonny currently the confirmed line-up for the three-hour races at Monza, Silverstone and Nurburgring, plus the 1000kms event at Paul Ricard. The team’s final plans for the 24 Hours of Spa will be confirmed at a later date.

Whilst Sardarov and Cocker will be making their BES debuts, Machitski enjoyed a successful one-off in 2014, when he claimed the runner-up spot in the Gentlemen’s Trophy class at the Spa 24 Hours, having previously also finished on the GT2 podium in 2007.

We will be commencing an intensive pre-season testing programme with our BMW Z4 GT3 at Monza on March 5th, prior to the official BES test at Paul Ricard on March 11th-12th. Backing for the project comes from Vi Holding Developments, Black Ocean, and Bluewater.

Mark Lemmer, Barwell Motorsport Team Principal: “I am delighted that we will be doubling our attack on the BES Pro-Am title, with the addition of the TRBB BMW Z4 GT3. Leo & Jonny are already stars at this level, and Timur is really developing well as one of the most promising new Gentleman drivers of the GT3 scene!”

Leo Machitski, Team Russia by Barwell driver: “I’m extremely excited to be back driving with Jonny and Timur for Team Russia by Barwell. I feel the prospects for this season are extremely positive. The continuation with Barwell Motorsport and BMW hopefully will result in a season of competition never to forget.”

Timur Sardarov, Team Russia by Barwell driver: “It is great that I will be teaming up with Leo & Jonny again this season & with Barwell & BMW it is like being part of a Family, we have Great Spirit & ambition. The Blancpain Series looks like an incredible challenge, I cannot wait to take this challenge on!”

Jonny Cocker, Team Russia by Barwell driver: "I’m absolutely delighted to be continuing the journey with Team Russia by Barwell in the 2015 season, a huge thanks to Leo, Timur and all at Barwell Motorsport for making this a possibility. I’m extremely excited at the prospect of this year’s championship, the consistency in the Team, car and driver line up will really mean we can hit the ground running ready for what I feel will be a very successful year for all involved. I can’t wait to get started!"
